Smt M.S.Subbulakshmi & Smt Radha Viswanathan perform at the late Sri G.D.Birla's residence in Calcutta on 3rd November, 1983. This concert was performed soon after Smt Radha had recovered from her illness. At a certain point in the last stanza, Smt MS & Smt Radha are unable to remember the words and it's a real treat to see them retain their poise and recall the right words, finishing the song with aplomb and to a round of applause and appreciation. The Birla family can also be seen in the audience, lost in the musical paradise, amidst sylvan surroundings. On the occasion of the 7th Remembrance Day of Smt M.S.Subbulakshmi and the 77th birthday of her daughter Smt Radha Viswanathan, we at Paramparaa1916 are very elated to share this rare video from the family archives. The accompanists were: Sri Kandadevi S.Azhagiriswami - violin Sri Guruvayur Dorai - mridangam Sri T.H.Vinayakaram - ghatam This Bhajan was sung by Indira Devi during one of her many divine trances at Kalki Gardens, where the words were immediately jotted down by a scribe nearby. The words were set to tune by Sri Dilip Kumar Roy and taught to Smt M.S. and Smt Radha, who have then immortalised it through their rendition. Almost all the songs of Indira Devi sung by Smt MS were spontaneously sung during the former's regular sojourns at Kalki Gardens.
