Thousands blacked out by ice and rain storm in southern Ontario and Quebec

Tens of thousands of people across southern and central Ontario have lost power in the recent storm. The mix of snow, freezing rain, ice pellets, rain and powerful winds that battered the region over the weekend made driving treacherous. (The Canadian Press) For more visit the Toronto Star or read an excerpt below: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2018... While the worst of the wicked weekend weather appears to be over, this morning’s slushy commute has been plagued with transit issues. As the subways started running at 6 a.m., there were multiple closures, with shuttle buses running in operation. As of 9:30 a.m., the most recent closure —Line 4 — had re-opened. The 512 streetcar is now fully back in operation after shuttle buses ran as replacements all weekend and into Monday morning. Shuttle buses are running along the 511 Bathurst route. The 501 Queen route is only running between Sunnyside and Woodbine. Shuttle buses are filling in between Sunnyside Loop and Long Branch, and along a section of the 503 Kingston route between Bingham Ave. and Woodbine Ave. For more visit the Toronto Star.
