How to install a water pressure regulator in your home. DIY

This video is to show you how easy it can be to replace your water pressure regulator on your own home if you are thinking of doing it yourself. It's pretty simple and requires basic tools. If you are not sure of the size of your regulator take a few pics and measurements before heading to your local Home Depot or supply store so that you can ask for assistance in choosing the right one. Try and get one that is the same brand if possible but at the very least be sure you are replacing it with the same size nuts so you don't have to do more than is shown in this video. Step by step: 1. Shut off your water either at the street or just before the regulator. Older homes that have a gate valve can sometimes be like opening a can of worms just by touching it so if yours is one of those you might want to go straight to the street shut off. (This also depends on where you live) 2. Open the outside hose to drain the water and also a inside faucet to let air into the line. 3. Remove the old regulator as shown in the video and replace with the new one making sure the o'ring or rubber washer is installed correctly. 4. Tighten but do not overtighten the new regulator making sure not to bind up the o'rings or washers. 5. Turn the water back on slowly and make sure there are no leaks. Open the faucets and showers to let the air out of the lines. 6. Check your water pressure if you have a gauge but new regulators usually come preset from the factory. I hope this video is helpful.
