What happened to Virginia Dare and the Lost Colony

The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island was an early attempt by English settlers to establish a permanent colony in North America. The colony was established in 1587 on Roanoke Island, off the coast of what is now North Carolina, by Governor John White and around 120 settlers. Shortly after arriving, Governor White returned to England to secure more supplies and support for the colony. However, due to various reasons such as a war with Spain, White was delayed in his return for three years. When he finally returned in 1590, he found the colony abandoned with no trace of its inhabitants, except for the word "Croatoan" carved into a tree. The fate of the Lost Colony has been a subject of debate and speculation for centuries. Many theories have been proposed, including that the settlers were killed by Native Americans, that they were absorbed into a local tribe, or that they perished from disease, hunger, or exposure. Who was Virginia Dare...the firstborn with the Lost Colony? The first English child born in the Lost Colony of Roanoke was Virginia Dare, the daughter of Ananias Dare and Eleanor White Dare. Virginia Dare was born on August 18, 1587, just a few weeks after the colony was established on Roanoke Island. Her birth was a significant event, as she was the first English child to be born in the New World. However, her fate remains unknown, as she was still an infant when the colony disappeared, and her whereabouts and what happened to her are still a mystery.
