Slate Drake with Lively Legz, Holsinger's Fly Shop

The Slate Drake AKA Isonychia nymph is a large Mayfly species. This pattern is one that a Lively Legz customer tied and they shared on their social media pages. I was asked to tie this for a custom order after one of my customers saw this on the Lively Legz page. Although this fly is very similar to a Scott's Big Nymph, for my style of fishing this is my preferred pattern for an Isonychia. It's a great looking fly and the antron yarn is a lot easier to work with than the turkey feathers. Also I add more weight to this fly compared to Scott's Big Nymph which helps with my sink rate and makes up for the drag that the Lively Legz would make when sinking I'm starting to post some of my flies from my videos for sale on our website https://www.holsingersflyshop.com and you can also contact my for custom orders or if any of the flies on the website are out of stock and you would like some.
