Hey gang, I did a quick kick drum mic shoot out between an AKG D112 and a Shure Beta 52a. Personally I really like both mics for completely different reasons. I love the pronounced bass response that one gets from the D112 while at the same time, I have a deep respect for the exact replication of the kick sound you get using the B52a. In the interest of keeping it at least partially scientific, I used exactly the same settings on the camera, and only swapped out the mic itself. When editing the video, I didn't do anything to one mic's clips that I didn't then also do to the other. I used no EQ or audio processing whatsoever. To be fair though, My movie editor does compress the audio a fair bit when exporting and rendering. In theory at least, this should be done identically across the entire video. The snare drum, kick pedal, stool and hi-hat stand in this video are all available for purchase from my reverb shop; www.reverb.com/au/shop/schinbeindrumco Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE and hit the notification bell if you haven't already; https://goo.gl/WJVxLZ Here's some more random links to all things Schinbein Drum Co; www.handbuiltdrums.com www.twitter.com/schinbeindrumco www.facebook.com/schinbeindrumco www.instagram.com/schinbein_drum_co See you next Tuesday, Phil Schinbein
