With its beautiful coastal scenery, cool sea breeze, secluded beaches, small town charm, and historic downtown area, Mendocino offers a perfect balance to spend quality time with the one you love without the crowds or touristy nature of many places in California. A few years ago, we stayed in the Heritage House Resort & Spa in Little River town where the hotel rooms overlooks the ocean, had a quiet walk together on their private trails around the coast, and spent time together underneath the white gazebo on the edge of the cliff. I highly recommend this place to relax, disconnect from the stress, reflect on the past and future with the one you love. Mendocino is a small coastal community located about 155 miles north of San Francisco, California. It's known for the cliff-side trails and beaches of Mendocino Headlands State Park. North is the dramatic coastline of Russian Gulch State Park and the 1909 Point Cabrillo Light Station. Mendocino is home to a large number of hotels and Bed & Breakfast Inns. It has a downtown commercial district facing the ocean, with a number of art galleries, retail shops, lodging and restaurants. Many films and movies have been filmed in and around Mendocino and Mendocino County, including - Dying Young; The Russians Are Coming; Overboard; The Dunwich Horror; The Karate Kid Part III; Dead & Buried; Forever Young; Same Time Next Year; Racing with the Moon; Pontiac Moon; and The Majestic. But, perhaps the TV series "Murder, She Wrote" has had the largest impact on the coastal community.
