The hotel was established in 1907 which makes it the oldest country hotel in Namibia still partly operating in the original buildings. Hotel offers 24 en-suite double rooms, 3 family rooms, sleeping up to six guests with shared bath and toilet facilities, 18 bed backpackers dormitory for the discerning traveller. Furthermore a very cosy bar, good food all day, internet facilities, a curio shop, outside relaxation around the swimming pool and personal service. Located about 300 kilometers to the south of Windhoek, makes it the ideal stop over en route to Sossusvlei, Luederitzbucht (Luderitz), the Diamond Fields or the mighty Fish River Canyon. From the hotel hosts offer guided day tours to Sossusvlei via Sesriem Canyon and Duwisib Castle with picnic lunch en route. Another tour we offer is to Kub on the banks on the Fish River with its historic police station and school with a lunch barbeque and game drive on farm Wildpark. Other tours to surrounding attractions can be organized on short notice. Museum What started as a selection of historic photos in the back entrance foyer, turned more and more into a little museum, covering the history of Maltahoehe and its inhabitants. Lapa Before the arrival of the first tourists in 2008, a shaded lapa was erected alongside the swimming pool, which proved very popular with the guests. The Trek In May 2007 the final trek of our ox wagon from farm Hutupsdrift to Maltahoehe was finally undertaken. Ox wagon leaves for one last trek In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the Maltahöhe Hotel a historic ox wagon will go on its last trek across the dusty plains of southern Namibia.
