How to Install a USB Power Port + Boat Wiring and Tool Tips!

Today's video walks you through how to install a USB power port on your boat or marine vessel and I added some bonus boat wiring and tool tips as we go in to detail about the right tools and the correct wire type (tinned copper wire) to use on your boat for any electrical work. I'll go over how to power the USB charging port, and why a switch and fuse are critical and how to use them properly. This is a very simple installation and makes a great first project for your boat if you're new to working with your boat wiring. Installing a USB charging outlet is extremely practical on a boat because we now use them to charge our phones, cameras, trolling motor remotes and much more and I've been wanting to install one for over a year now. We'll open up the switch panel on the console of my boat, discuss wiring basics and use equipment already on the boat to make this installation as simple as possible. Don't be intimidated by the electricals of your boat, the key is to take your time and trace each wire until you're sure what each wire does before you touch them. I recommend to every DIY beginner to get your self a power probe for verifying negative and positive cables and always disconnect power before working on the wiring.
