Railfanning Antioch - Pittsburg - 11/22/17

With the day off of work the day before thanksgiving, I decided to utilize the morning and head down to the Antioch - Pittsburg Amtrak Station to do some railfanning. I'll have to admit I had expected the city of Antioch to be somewhat crime-ridden, but after arriving in Antioch and setting up to begin railfanning, it became very clear that the surrounding area around the station and the community itself had a very nasty vibe coming off of it beyond what I had expected. Although it was fairly sketchy and the station was a little run down, the train action was decent with all friendly crews, plenty of horn action approaching and through the station, as well as it being my first time railfanning the BNSF Stockton Subdivision. Don't get me wrong, the area is very beautiful with the Delta and San Joaquin River adjacent to the station as well as the nearby Marina. But the fact that there was visible ongoing drug and crime activity before my eyes, I would advise extreme caution and only railfan here if absolutely desired. It really is a nice area, consequently just not the people. Train 1 : Amtrak 711 with SC-44 #2105 & NPCU #90215. Awesome crew on 711 ! My first time seeing the Siemens SC-44 Charger locomotive and I'll have to admit, it's not the best looking, but it certainly gets the job done. Very interesting to see the newest locomotive on point and the old F40PH on the rear, like from old to new, especially with the comet cars. Train 2 : BNSF Q-MEMRIC8-20V with C44-9W #4379 & ET44C4 #3870. Nice crew with some extra horn action ! Train 3 : BNSF H-RICBAR2-22A with ES44C4 #6758, SD60M #2481(UP), AC44C4M #601, C44-9W #9595(NS), AC44CW #250(CSX), C44-9W #5454, & SD70ACe #9150. Very colorful engine lash up with the foreign power to say the least ! Great crew with waves and plenty of horn action ! Train 4 : Amtrak 712 with CabCar #8304, #8314, & F59PHI #2008. Note the trainset contains six cars versus the typical four or five in accommodation for the Thanksgiving travel period. Nice horn action coming up to the crossing ! Thanks for Watching !
