Soon, these #renders will be #reality 📽️ The design of METRONET’s Alkimos Station, known by its traditional Noongar name Kyleeup, reflects a deep respect for the local Indigenous culture and environment. Early investigations conducted with the METRONET Noongar Reference Group identified important local Noongar themes that have influenced the architecture of Alkimos Station. These themes draw inspiration from the region's natural landscape, including: 🔶 Limestone pinnacles: These natural rock formations, prevalent in the region, are reflected in the station's distinctive curved elements. 🔶 Melaleuca huegelii: Commonly known as "teatree" or "paperbark", these trees continue to play a crucial role in Noongar culture. Their versatility provided materials for shelters, water carrying, food wrapping, and medicinal purposes. The station's aluminium facades interpret the form of the Melaleuca tree, further connecting the design to the local landscape and cultural significance.
