A few tips on how you could use a Manners Minder or Treat & Train (food reward delivery device) in Scent Work or Nose Work Training. The Manners Minder can help teach a focused response, as the dog can quickly learn to stare at the device in order to receive a food reward. By attaching a scent vessel (eg tin with odour inside) near the food delivery port, the dog can be easily trained to perform an indication behaviour of a freeze/stare. The Manners Minder can also be used to deliver a remote reward, allowing the handler to relocate the position of the odour as the dog eats the food reward.
