Ray - Escape (1999)

"New Age Culture ~Dai ni Gakushou~ (第二楽章) Omnibus", 1999. Ray formed in 1997. That year, the group released an astounding total of five demos, and had developed a fair-sized cult following by early 1998 for their goth-inspired sound. Despite their huge following, bassist Takuma ended up leaving by the end of 1997, and was never officially replaced. Ray continued on as a trio and later released four more demos throughout 1998 and also appeared on the "New Age Culture ~Dai ni Gakushou~ (第二楽章)" omnibus in January of 1999. In May of 1999, the group released their first mini-album "Ever Seen", which almost immediately sold out. By the summer of 1999, Ray managed to become one of the most respected and well known indies groups of the late 90's visual flood. Despite their humongous following, however, Ray ended up officially disbanding in November of 1999. The drummer of Ray, Chiaki (知明), went on to join the cult indies group Gaia, which also ended up disbanding in 2001. Chiaki then joined one last visual group, Tamago Club (タマゴクラブ), which also ended up disintegrating by 2004. After Tamago Club disbanded, Chiaki then retired from the visual scene. The guitarist of Ray, Yoshinori (善徳), temporarily retired from the visual scene after Ray split, but returned in early 2002 as a member of the popular visual group Waive. When Waive also split in December of 2005, Yoshinori then embarked on a solo career under his full name of Yoshinori Sugimoto (杉本善徳). In 2010, he also rejoined Waive when it was revived. He is still currently a solo artist and a member of Waive. The frontman and bassist of Ray, Ryo (亮) and Taizo (泰造), both retired from the visual scene after Ray split, and went on to form Cune with former members of Ize. Cune went on to become one of the most respected and successful rock bands from the 2000's until their sudden split in 2006. After Cune split, Ryo ended up retiring from the music scene in general, while Taizo reunited with Yoshinori and became a support musician for him. In 2011, Cune reunited, although in 2012, a major lineup change occurred when Ryo left to become a solo artist. Cune is still active today with Taizo as a member and guitarist Koji (耕治) on vocals, while Ryo remains somewhat active as well as a solo artist.
