This is our second year of growing garlic on mulching sheet. We grow traditional variety of Uttarakhand mountain garlic which is medium in size and bold in flavour. We grow our garlic 100% organically. There are numerous benefits of growing garlic on pre cut plastic mulching sheet and we are seeing consistent results over the past two years: 1. Biggest benefit is labour cost saving. 2. Plants need to be watered less frequently. 3. Soil born diseases are less as leaves are not in direct contact with the soil. 4. Plastic mulching sheet traps the heat which raises the soil temperature, therefore plant growth is faster in the mountain areas where temperature range is usually low. 5. Holes to plant garlic are pre made in the sheet, hence the garlic sowing is uniform in all the fields and high density of around 25 -30 kg per 200 sq meters of area.
