AC competed very creditably: in 1959, the same year that Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin, AC finished seventh overall and won the 2-litre class. Power was provided by a Bristol 2-litre in-line six-cylinder engine. With Bristol about to stop producing 2-litre engines, AC fitted Ford six-cylinders from the British Zephyr.
