Filmed in 4K 60FPS Videoed in Birmingham. Originally an existing property named the "Nether House" Great Barr Hall was rebuilt in a grand style by Joseph Scott in about 1777. The Scott family then face financial issues in 1788 and leased the property out to local arms manufacturer Samuel Galton, and the venue became a meeting place for the "Lunar Society" a club commonly frequented by philosophers and intellectuals during a full moon. Sir Francis Scott inherited the property in 1791 from his uncle and lived there until the expiry of the lease, and he died in 1863. Sir Francis Scott's widow continued to live in the property until her death in 1909. The estate was then purchased by a local hospital board in 1911, and in 1918, it became "The Great Barr Park Colony" a place for people with mental needs. In 1948 it became "St Margaret's Mental Hospital" and many detached hospital buildings were erected near the hall, and in the 1980s the grounds became a nature reserve, managed by the Staffordshire Nature Conservation Trust. The hall itself was abandoned in 1978 and was left to decay. The hospital began to close in phases from the late 1980s. The male department closed during 1992 but the female department closed in March 1997. The final residents left in 2004.
