Offerman talks Trump inauguration at ‘The Little Hours’ premiere

(20 Jan 2017) OFFERMAN TALKS TRUMP INAUGURATION AT 'THE LITTLE HOURS' PREMIERE On the eve of Donald Trump's inauguration as the 45th President of the United States, stars including Dave Franco, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman and Molly Shannon premiered their film, "The Little Hours" on night one of the Sundance Film Festival Thursday (19 JAN. 2017). "The Little Hours" is a comedy but Offerman was more melancholy about his thoughts on the new administration. "Oh, hell. I had hopes," he said. "When we had the misfortune of the election I said, 'Well, maybe somehow they'll get their heads on straight and everything will be OK. And they've gone the exact opposite direction of that so like they're rumored to be cutting the National Endowment for the Arts and the Humanities and the Department (sic) of Violence Against Women like so it seems like we've taken some really solid steps forward in the last eight years and now they're taking a diarrhea-laden step back and then we'll wipe ourselves off and trudge forward again." Molly Shannon, however, said she's hoping for unity. "I think it's an interesting time in our country. We're very divided obviously but I think that, you know, we really have to at this time come together to work together so that's the only way this can work so I think we need to focus on that right now, you know, despite our differences in opinions about things I think it's also a time to try to come together and work together." One thing that made Offerman smile? His reaction to the revival of the NBC comedy series "Will and Grace," starring his wife Megan Mullally. The show will return in the 2017-2018 TV season for 10-episodes. "Our household is just - we're running around just like - we can't believe it because it was so magnificent and such a massive, cultural chapter the first time that you're like, 'it's not the kind of thing that anyone will ever let you do again,' you know? It's impossible to get all the people together and so the fact that it's just happening has me just giggling constantly. I'm so excited." "The Little Hours" is adapted from a book by Giovanni Boccaccio called "The Decameron." The Sundance Film Festival runs through Jan. 29.
