Colombia University was the first theater for student-led anti-Israel/anti-Jewish activism following 10/7. The prevalence of critical theory taught at universities primed a generation of students for social justice activism, and since October 7th, the Free Palestine movement has taken center stage. Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a student group on campuses, has been at the center of decimating information, organizing students, and promoting violence against Jewish students across America. At Colombia University, SJP played a critical role in the months-long encampment and occupation of Hamilton Hall. Dominique speaks with Daniel Suhr, a lawyer representing five Colombia students in a class action lawsuit against key agitators at Colombia University, including the national SJP office, Colombia’s SJP chapter, faculty, and U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Jamaal Bowman. The encampment on Colombia’s campus affected all students, as classes and university services were stalled due to the illegal actions of Colombia’s SJP. Anti-Jewish violence and the promotion of ideas championed by Hamas promoted the genocidal aims of the terrorist organization, fostering fear amongst the university’s Jewish population.
