We offer a variety of hands-on marine science programs designed around active, experience-based learning, all aboard 50 ft. monohull or catamaran sailing vessels. These vessels will serve as your home and floating classroom as you sail from island to island and reef to reef in the beautiful British Virgin Islands. From basic coral reef ecology to shark anatomy and advanced underwater research projects, each Adventure is geared towards different levels of interest and experience. With our commitment to experience-based learning, scuba diving is naturally a core component of all of our Marine Biology Adventures, and we have programs to accommodate divers of all levels. Novice divers complete the introductory PADI Open Water Diver certification as well as the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty. More experienced divers can build on their skills, completing advanced Specialties like Night Diver, Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist and Research Diver, a distinctive specialty that’s unique to AQ. Combining marine science education with scuba diving opens our student’s eyes to the infinite variety of life that resides on the reefs below, and being so close to the subject matter instills a profound sense of environmental stewardship and responsibility. At AQ, you’ll learn by doing, seeing, and experiencing things that most people only read about in books.
