Rhythmically, he draws from the Farukhabad, Delhi, Ajrada, and Lucknow gharanas, having received instruction from his esteemed father Nikhil Ghosh and Ahmed Jan Thirakwa, a legend of the instrument. His sitar style is augmented by study of rare ragas and compositional forms, including with the late Buddhadev Das Gupta. His uncle was Pannalal Ghosh, the father of classical bansuri.
