How to Cook Tomato Dal in Pressure Cooker: Take ½ cup Toor dal, wash and add 1.5 cups of water, a few drops of oil + ¼ tsp turmeric powder + 3 ripe tomatoes. Pressure cook 4 whistles, mash and keep aside Tadka, Heat a pan with a tbsp ghee or oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp cumin seeds, let the mustard seeds splutter. Add curry leaves, 4 dried red chilies, 5 finely chopped shallots, 3 garlic pods hing, and saute well till it turns golden. Add salt, 1 tsp chili powder, mix well. Add the Tadka with the cooked dal + ½ cup water mix well. Keep in the low flame of 2 to 3 mins and then switch off the stove That’s Tomato Dal is ready to Serve! Lunch Box Packing Tips: If you are making dal for lunch boxes, don't mix rice and dal. Always keep it in a separate box, otherwise, the rice will turn hard.
