A former Army captain, Tom Shelton, is missing from his lonely moorland home, his disappearance shrouded in mystery. It's unlikely that Shelton, a local man who knew every track and wall, could have been lost, improbable that he would quit his home and position in the village deliberately. His wife Judith (Elvi Hale) seems unconcerned - and so does the other man in her life Val Easton (Tony Anholt), a weak an ineffectual man five years younger than Judith. The local policeman, Sergeant Hurby (Donald Pleasence) begins to investigate and soon suspects that murder is involved. He was a long-time friend of Shelton and accuses the wife of killing her husband.... Broadcast 21st August 1970
