Well, this video is our complete guide on how to host your own Minecraft server. We cover everything about creating a Minecraft server from where to download the Minecraft server files to how to play Minecraft with friends on your server, this video shows you how to do it all. To get started, we will need to download the Minecraft server jar file. This is the file that you will use to create, start, and turn your Minecraft server online. You can find a link in the description above to download the Minecraft server files. This will take you to our complete text guide on how to host a Minecraft server that is always kept up to date to the most recent version of Minecraft. On this page, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official download page for the Minecraft server jar file. This page wil have “minecraft_server_version.jar” text. Click this text to start downloading the Minecraft server.jar. After you have the server.jar downloaded, you will need to create a new folder on your desktop. You can call this anything you want, but I suggest “Minecraft Server”. Drag-and-drop the server.jar that you downloaded into this Minecraft server folder that you created. Open the Minecraft server folder, and double-click the server.jar. Assuming you have Java installed on your computer, if not you can download it from the description above, your Minecraft server will attempt to start. However, it will fail. Some files and folders will be generated though. One of these files will be called “eula.txt”. Open this file and change “eula=false” to “eula=true” assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA. When you double-click the server.jar again, your server will start. At this point, you now know how to host a Minecraft server. However, at this point, you are the only person who can join the Minecraft server you are hosting. For you to join, you will just use the IP address “localhost” when joining the server. What if you want to play Minecraft with your friends on the server you are hosting though? Well, in order to do that, you will need to port forward 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocol. There is an in-depth guide on how to port forward for a Minecraft server once you are hosting it. After you port forward, your friends will be able to join using your public IP address. At this point, you have hosted a Minecraft server on your own computer. However, if you want to host a Minecraft server remote, we recommend our company SimpleGameHosting. This will allow you to create a 24 hour Minecraft server for you and your friends without having to worry about port forwarding or anything like that. Nevertheless, you now know how to host a Minecraft server. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft server, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
