Patan Durbar Square is one of my favorite places to visit in the Kathmandu Valley. With the main square and hidden temples around the area, its one of the best ways to spend a day while visiting Kathmandu. #kathmandu #nepal #patandurbarsquare Patan Durbar Square, occupies a central location within the city of Lalitpur, Nepal. It is among the three Durbar Squares located in the Kathmandu Valley, all recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One of its notable features is the ancient royal palace that once served as the residence for the Malla Kings of Lalitpur. This architectural marvel showcases the distinctive Newar style. The square is adorned with red brick tiles, and it houses numerous temples and statues. The primary temples are positioned opposite the western facade of the palace, with their entrances facing east towards the palace. Patan Durbar Square also encompasses historic Newari residential houses, along with additional temples and structures constructed by the Newa People. As a significant religious center for both Hinduism and Buddhism, the square boasts 136 courtyards and 55 major temples. One of the temples that we visited in the video was the Mahaboudha Temple, which is one of our favorite peaceful temples to visit! Situated in a small courtyard, it has over 10,000 Buddhas carved into it! It is definitely a must visit place in Lalitpur and Kathmandu!
