Check out our Jordan Travel Guide on Google Maps for a list everywhere we went in Jordan, including places that didn't make it into the videos: https://goo.gl/maps/VkiqSTAmCeBK8Ygt7 Chapters: 00:00 Intro 01:00 Welcome to As-Salt 02:23 Historic Old Salt Museum/ Abu Jaber House 03:46 As-Salt Walking Tour 05:25 Al Gherbal Restaurant 06:36 Al Hammam Souk 07:22 Final Thoughts The history of As-Salt spans thousands of years and there is no better way to learn and appreciate its storied past than at the Historic Old Salt Museum. Filled to the brim with artifacts over the past 2000 years, the Historic Old Salt Museum paints a wonderful picture of As-Salt and shows its progression through the centuries. The museum itself is located within the Abu Jaber House, one the finest examples of Ottoman architecture. After exploring the museum, it's time to hit the streets. Pick up a free walking tour map from the attached Visitor's Center and get to strolling. The highlighted path takes you to some of the most important and beautiful places in the city. From mosques and churches, to workshops and flower filled pedestrian alleys, As-Salt is a feast for the eyes. Something new and fascinating hides around every corner. After all that walking, it's time to refuel at Al Gherbal Restaurant. Their selection of mezze is to notch and everything was absolutely delicious. After lunch, head back out across the street to the Al Hammam Souk. This thriving street market is full of produce, spices, clothing, housewares, and practically anything else you could ever need. Colorful tarps and fabric are strung overhead providing much welcomed shade. This is a market for the locals of As-Salt first and for the tourists second. It's a great way to experience local culture and the way people live in this part of the world. Slow down and take it all in.
