091724 Acasis TBU405 Pro enclosure and WD Black SN770 ssd

This is the follow-up video detailing the installation of the WD Black SN770 NVMe M.2 Gen 4 Solid State Drive (1TB) in the Acasis TBU 405 Pro M1 external ssd enclosure. This is not really a "product review" video. I am not sponsored by Acasis or Western Digital. My channel is not monetized. This is just a video showing my current strategy to increase data storage with my laptop PC. Before this, I was storing my drone flight videos on an old external hard drive (hdd). It is a Seagate 1TB hdd and is a workhorse. I've used it for about 10 years with a couple of different systems and it has performed flawlessly. It is full now and I don't want to erase the data stored on it. It has painfully slow data transfer rates (about 50MB/s) and I wanted to put together an external ssd enclosure that could take advantage of the speed of the Thunderbolt 4 ports on my new laptop. I've learned that Thunderbolt 4 enclosures plugged into a Thunderbolt 4 ports with a quality Thunderbolt 4 cable can give data transfer speeds around 3GB/s, but not up to their theoretical maximum of 40Gbs which is 5GB/s. It might be a waste of money to install ssd units with reported speeds above 3000 MB/s in 40Gbs enclosures, in my opinion. This WD Black SN770 has a rating of 5150 MB/s and might be a bit of overkill for my purposes, but I feel like I got a good deal off of Amazon ($75 for 1TB at the time of this recording 091724), and I wanted to attempt to achieve the maximum speed that the enclosure could bear. I think I did that, and I am very satisfied with approximately 3GB/s read and write speeds. I'm sure this video is long and boring for some. I promise my next post will be a flight video. Thank you for allowing my nerdy indulgence. This was my first assembly of an external ssd enclosure. It was a fun and interesting project. Happy Flying (and computing) Amigos! Cheers - Sonic Ox.
