We are so excited to experience Martinique with full of natural beauty, history and culture. If you are in Saint Pierre for the first time, visit Tourist Centre to pick up maps and booklets of things you can do. By the way, Tourist Office is harbour master’s office as well. Our interest was hiking, so the lady in the office gave me a map of hiking trails in Martinique, and Self Guided Tour of Saint Pierre. For hiking, we most definitely wanted to try hiking at Mount Pelee. It was our in our bucket list of things to do while we are in Martinique. Fantastic experience. If you ever go there, we definitely recommend you try. It takes 4 hours or more and 600m in elevation so be prepared. Another hiking trip we had was to Fonds-Saint-Denis. This one is not quite as busy as Mr. Pelee hiking trail. You can enjoy tranquil and beautiful scenery. This one takes about 2 hours to complete, and you will end up in Morne Vert. Another thing we definitely suggest is to go for walking tour of Saint Pierre. We picked up a booklet of Self Guided Tour. What a wonderful way of spending easy going day and enjoying the view points. For us, this tour became the highlight of our stay in Saint Pierre. After spending 5 days in Saint Pierre, we are moving to other locations in Martinique. Stay tuned for the next episode.
