Visit to Italian Community

Although we are close by, since Covid our visits have been reduced due to the lock-down of the entire structure, which houses elderly and sick people. As mentioned above, for us this visit has been one of closeness, presence and listening. We are well aware that at any age, and particularly in old age, elderly people feel more and more lonely. To be surrounded and listened to, to be able to talk and share, and especially to be close and present at their side has an important and particularly positive impact on their physical and spiritual health. According to Pope Francis, “presence and, better still, contact is the true communicative language, the same affective language that transmitted healing to the lepers” (Pope Francis, Address to participants at the congress for formators of consecrated life, April 11, 2015). We can say that it was a wonderful experience. We received a very warm welcome. Our warmest thanks go to Sr Silvia Soldà, who is in charge of the community and who, together with her sisters, organised the schedule for our visit. Our warmest and most special thanks go to each of the sisters for making us feel at home among them and relaxed.
