One of the greatest challenges we face as bowhunters occurs after we hit full draw. Deer hear the shot and drop to load their legs in order to bound away. It starts dropping while the arrow is still on its way. If the shot is past 20 yards, we have to guess where the deer will be when the arrow gets arrives. After many years, and many disappointments, I have come up with a system that seems to work most of the time. Maximum range on a whitetail is not determined by our performance on the range, but by our ability to judge what the deer will do when it hears the sound of the shot.
