The Gateway of India is one of the most popular tourist hotspots of Mumbai😍. It is also referred as Taj Mahal of Mumbai🕌. It overlooks the Arabian Sea. The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911. It was also the exit point from where the last British ship left India for England🛳️. Built in Indo-Sarcenic style, the foundation stone was laid on 31 March 1911 and construction was completed in 1924. George Wittet designed this monument. The structure is an arch made of basalt and concrete, 26 metres high. The total construction cost of this monument was approximately 21 Lakhs. Enjoy taking pictures with your family📸.
