Here is the recipe for Cheesy Pita Bread. Once you try this easy homemade pita bread recipe, you'll never get the store bought kind again. Made from a simple dough, soft, puffy, and delicious! To this plain pita bread recipe I added a cheese filling to make it extra delicious. You can also use whole purpose flour for this recipe. I highly recommend you try out this recipe. It is AMAZING! Pita bread is a middle eastern flat bread that puffs up when baked creating an air pocket in the middle. As it cools, it deflates and flattens, but the pocket remains. Then, when you cut it in half, each half has its own pocket. This soft and light Pita Bread is perfect for making shawarma, stuffing with tahini, hummus, falafel or anything else you’d like! The oven baking method also works better because it prevents the bread from getting too browned as it does when making it on a skillet or frying pan. However, I do allow it to get slightly browned in the oven as well because I prefer my bread well baked. Do give it a try and let me know how it turned out to be! Please leave your valuable feedback as comments below. :) Ingredients (Makes around 6 pita breads): Plain Pita Bread: 3 cups all purpose flour or whole wheat flour (375g) (I used all purpose flour here) 1 1/4 cups water (260g) 1 tbsp milk powder 1 tbsp sugar 1 and 1/2 tsp instant yeast ( if you are using dry active yeast , dissolve it in the above mentioned quantity of sugar and warm water. Set aside for 20 mins or till it froths up) 1 tbsp olive oil 1/4 tsp salt For brushing: 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp paprika power Filling: 100g cream cheese (soften at room temperature) ‏100g cheddar cheese (any kind of cheese you like, cut into small cubes)\ 100g shredded mozzarella cheese Chopped spring onions or scallions Garnish : crushed dry or fresh parsley Tips and Notes : 1. Serve these bread warm. They are extra delicious then! If they cool down, slightly warm them up in a pan or oven for 30 secs. 2. Once you roll out the breads, do not pile them one on top of the other. They will stick to each other and it will be difficult to separate them.
