On 2 June 1975, ITN’s Robert Kee presented a special extended edition of First Report, just three days before the UK voted in a nationwide referendum on membership of the European Economic Community (EEC). The programme saw former Prime Minister and Conservative party leader Edward Heath debating Peter Shore, Secretary of State for Trade in Harold Wilson’s Labour government, with both fielding questions from the public ilive on air.
