Located fifty eight kilometers from Thailand's capital Bangkok the city of Nakhon Pathom is one of those places often ignored by the majority of foreigners and that is why I am here. To explore and experience the true Thai culture far away from the common tourist traps, the chaos and scams associated with mass tourism. Founded as far back as 40 BC Nakhon Pathom is considered of of the oldest cities in Thailand. The Phra Pathom Chedi the tallest Buddhist temple in the world is located here. The large market is a great place to visit before sunrise and experience a day in a life of the Thais not impaired or influenced by the masses of foreigners as in other places in Thailand like Chiang Mai in the north. There are numerous places to eat in the market place and the surrounding areas all within walking distance of the train station.
