JOHN BONHAM'S CYMBALS - THE RIDES - ANALYSIS AND DEMO

This is the first video in a series that will focus on Bonzo's cymbals, and my collection of Paistes. In this vid I take a look at the ride cymbals he used throughout his career with Zep, and I also showcase my own set of 24 inch Paiste rides ... (1960's 602 pre-serial 1960's - 3115gr, 1960's Giant Beat white label-2930gr, and 1974 2002 ride 3230gr). I wish there were more clear photos from above and behind John's kit so we could really identify what he was using but I think we have a pretty good idea of what he played live. In the studio he may have used any number of combinations of Paiste models, and maybe even a Zildjian here and there. Regarding the early part of 69, it's possible Bonzo was playing some of Carmine's Giant Beats. I forgot to mention that in the video, but that is something Carmine had said. EDIT: AFTER LOOKING CLOSELY AT PICS FROM '75, IT APPEARS TO ME THAT HE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GIANT BEAT 24 RIDE FOR THE '75 SHOWS AS WELL. I COULDN'T FIND ONE PHOTO OF THE RIDE WITH A CLEAR PAISTE STAMP UNDERNEATH UNTIL 1977. ALSO THE COLOR, HAMMERING AND BELL SHAPE ALL LOOK LIKE THE GIANT BEAT IN '75 PICS AS WELL. INTERESTING! Hope you all enjoy this first cymbal profile vid. More to come. Thanks for watching and please subscribe !
