Loveland Intermediate & Middle School Students Diverted Due to Bomb Threat

LOVELAND, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- A threat to a local school district forces a change in plans for students headed to class. Someone emailed a bomb threat to an administrator this morning. Officials decided to evacuate Loveland Middle School as well as the Intermediate School. Local 12's Adam Clements shares the latest on the investigation. While Loveland Police have determined both buildings are safe to enter, school officials decided the intermediate and middle school students will remain at the primary and elementary buildings for Thursday. All evening activities are cancelled.Officers from Loveland, as well as Cincinnati police and sheriffs deputies, spent the morning looking for anything suspicious after that bomb threat was emailed to the school at about 7 a.m. Thursday morning. They brought in bomb sniffing dogs to do a thorough search of the buildings.Students had not yet arrived to the school, most of them were on buses on their way in, so those buses were simply rerouted and taken to the elementary and high schools here in Loveland.Parents of those students were told they could come and pick up their children and take them home while investigators searched the building. Now that everything is secure, the focus turns towards finding out who is responsible for the threat. That part of the investigation will be handled by the FBI, and I'm told it will be a very thorough and aggressive investigation.Investigators want to make it very clear that threats like this are taken extremely seriously and they will do everything they can to find the person responsible, who could face various charges.Keeping things calm and collected, while making sure everyone was safe was a top priority and a team effort from students, parents, school officials and local law enforcement. I think it was somewhat organized but somewhat chaotic. I mean how do you prepare for that, really, said parent Kevin Newbanks. Loveland police chief Tim Sabransky told Local 12, we did take it very seriously as any threat against the school or students would and the school administrators did a great job, as soon as they were aware.Superintendent Chad Hilliker says, at this time the message was anonymous, we're not sure where it came from. But our primary goal, of course, is the safety of our students and any threat, we always take them seriously. The events cancelled for Thursday evening will be rescheduled.
