Hello Fragrance Fans and welcome back to my garden! A while back, I did a call-out for questions and I was so overwhelmed with everything you wanted to know that I had to split my response into 3 videos. In this video, I will be answering a batch of questions I got asked here on YouTube. Enjoy, Rx. Questions answered in this video: 00:14 - "What is the reasoning behind the different caps on your bottles?" 00:59 - "With continuing effort to limit the use of certain ingredients in fragrances over last decades, what are your plans going forward and do you think companies will eventually setup spin-off brands to allow them produce non-IFRA compliant, old formula versions of their creations (including your own)?" 03:11 - "We often see when people first get into fragrance, they go for something mainstream like Invictus or Sauvage. But those who continue developing their taste in fragrance, often go more into niche over time or a lesser known designer-fragrance. But why do you personally think that people end up finding their favorite as say an oriental fragrance? (While others might end up liking a fougere the most). In short: Why do we like the fragrances we do?" 05:10 -" I found it interesting when you taught us about the newer CO2 extraction used on rum for capturing boozy notes. What have been some natural absolutes that you’ve only recently discovered or other natural derived notes that are exceptionally unheard of and have you considered incorporating any into future work?" 07:05 - "Your legacy in the perfume industry spans 4 decades. In what ways have you changed over the span your journey and was your path to the present day at all what you were expecting when you first set out?" 09:00 - "Synthetic Civet and synthetic Castoreum - how much they really resemble to their natural form and what’s your thoughts on them?" 10:02 - "I was wondering is it common for designer fragrances to have a similar scent to that of niche ones?" 11:17 - "In a world where Haute Luxe doesn’t exist…if you had to choose one of your own fragrances to wear to a wedding, what would it be?" 11:52 - Also perfumery has become a bit of an every day escape for people like me who are stuck working at home all day every day.. how do you think the lockdowns have changed the state of the perfume industry? - Ramsey 13:13 - "What would be the best explanation to comments or reactions to scents that remind you of other scents, is it the notes or other factors?" 14:30 - "What are the final stages you take when you have completed a scent? Do you collaborate with other people you trust to determine if your fragrance/art is ‘bottle worthy’ to produce into the market?" 15:39 - "How much do you believe the presentation and look of a bottle (and packaging) plays towards the opinion of the owner?" 16:44 - "If you would make a perfume about ancient Egypt, how would you visualize it?" 17:13 - "Is there any raw material that has been banned due to regulations that you wish you could use again?" 17:45 - "Do different smells have different frequencies and, therefore, cause brainwave entrainment to those frequencies? What I mean is that different emotions and states of mind can be associated with different, complex brain frequencies and I’m wondering if fragrances can alter the mind in this fashion." 18:22 - "What would you recommend people who've become anosmic post-Covid?" 19:15 - "I understand that you began your brand in response to the dire need for creativity in a market laden with the latest trend-chasing designers and olfactory monotony. With the recent explosion of social media and resultant emergence of new, independent and artisan brands, do you think that we are heading towards a second rennaissance in perfume making driven by the average, passionate enthusiast?" 21:04 - "My question is about a very popular topic with scent influencers - "Over spraying". As someone renewing her love of wearing perfumes, I have always simply sprayed on my pulse points. I believed I learned that was the way to wear perfume, but when I hear others (particularly in social media) discuss great "silage" or the fact that they get several compliments a day - from strangers and friends both - from their perfume, I realized that has rarely happened to me. Am I not wearing enough? My routine is 3 or maybe 4 spays. Is there a "rule" of how and where to wear perfume?" 22:41 - "There notes for each stage that the perfumes unveils (top, heart, base), why we usually see specific notes in particular stages, for example, bergamot (top note) and agarwood (base note)? And is it possible to make the opposite, make the usuall top notes come in perfume as base and so on."
