On June 21, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will begin implementing the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act's (UFLPA) "rebuttable presumption" that goods made wholly or in part in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China, or produced by certain entities, are made by forced labor and prohibited from entry to the United States. Whether your company has an existing anti-forced labor compliance program or is creating one now in anticipation of the law's implementation, the UFLPA will require a new approach to due diligence to understand the potential enforcement risks associated with your suppliers. Miller and Chevalier customs and trade attorneys Richard Mojica and Virginia Newman will be joined by Isaac Stone Fish, Founder and CEO of China risk consultancy company Strategy Risks, to discuss the UFLPA Due Diligence Game Plan, a step-by-step approach to prepare your company for the new legal framework and will provide actionable advice for companies with existing anti-forced labor compliance programs and for those new to the game.
