Sikkim | Gangtok | MG Road | Nathu la | Baba Mandir | Tsomgo Lake

This video is about my travel to Sikkim. It was planned by a travel planner. We started our journey from Mumbai. The cabs were waiting for us at the Bagdogra airport. We reached Gangtok by 6:30pm. According to the itinerary, there were no plans for the evening so we went to MG road. It is a good spot for shopping and restaurants. It's always crowded so make sure you find the place for dinner in advance. Next day morning we started with visiting Dechen Choling Monastery. It is BEAUTIFUL. Then we started our journey for the day's itinerary. Nathu la Pass is the 1st place we visited. Its Indo-China border. You need permit to visit these places. Usually, the travel agent does this for you. The charges for Nathula Pass Permit is Rs 200 per person. The tour to Nathula can done by shared vehichle which would cost around Rs 900 to Rs 1000 per person for selected attractions like Tsomgo lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula including permit fee. Protected Area Permits (PAP) are issued for: Domestic tourists /locals for protected areas in Sikkim, Foreign tourist for Tsomgo Lake in the East Sikkim and Lachen-Lachung-Yumthang-Thangu Valley in North Sikkim and Two-Wheelers/Motor Bike Permit For cars, you have to pay on the spot itself. We paid 90/- per car. It's at 17,400 ft. The oxygen level drops immediately. From my experience please avoid taking young kids and very old members. Also, carry chocolates and some campfor while climbing the steps. Baba Mandir- It has been dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, an Indian soldier in the 23rd Regiment, who breathed his last near the Nathu La Pass in East Sikkim in the year 1962 during the Indo-China War. Two shrines have been built to show reverence to Baba Harbhajan Singh. The old one has been built at the site of the bunker, where Baba Harbhajan was posted during his tenure in the Indian Army. The new one has been built at close proximity from Changu Lake. There are gift shops showcasing the items made by the wives of Indian Army soldiers. Tsomgo Lake- best places to visit in Sikkim is, Tsomgo Lake. For those who don’t recognize it, it’s also known as Changu Lake. This is a glacial lake that’s located at the height of 12,313 feet above the sea level, how amazing is that? This is one of the best destination in Sikkim as well as popular one, offering a perfect view mountains. Another reason Changu Lake is famous is its high reverence among Buddhists and Hindus. It holds deep religious importance for the local Sikkimese people. Tsomgo means "source of water" in Bhutia. Mostly people like to visit Sikkim in winter but the beauty of nature is something else in the month of June. One important thing you need to know, the local cab drivers are very stubborn and lack manners. They were very rude and charge whatever they want especially at night time. This was the only off putting experience. Rest, the place was great. We enjoyed our time in Gangtok.
