Napoleon NPS40 Pellet Stove Deep Cleaning Fall 2024

Performing a yearly deep cleaning on my Napoleon NPS40 pellet stove in preparation for heating season 2024-2025. The exhaust pipe was cleaned in a previous video, here we will go through the internals of the stove and clean the draft inducer area, draft inducer fan, internal air channels, and heat exchanger fan. I noticed a significant amount of surface rust appearing on the inside of the machine. My neighbor told me this is typical. I believe most of it will burn off after a few days of operation. Regardless of it being typical, I don't like it and will attempt to prevent it next year by blocking the chimney before it enters the stove and either leaving the cleanout off or leaving the door slightly open so it does not become damp within the stove. I replaced both fans last year, the heat exchanger blower because I wanted one that was more powerful and the draft inducer blower because the bearings had spoiled. I have not powered on either fan yet, but spinning up by hand definitely revealed some bearing noise already, which is disappointing but not surprising. I believe this is likely the 23rd heating season for this stove. I'm going to try to order more replacement parts to keep on hand this year. The unit is made in Canada and this particular model has proven to be very reliable over time, but certain components will eventually wear out and fail. Fortunately most all components on this stove are easily replaced and downtime can be very limited as long as you have replacement stock on hand.
