Honda EU1000i Generator Running Rich and Stalling, Carburetor Issue.

I picked this generator up cheap. It would not start. I opened up the carburetor to clean. It was not very dirty. Cleaned it anyway and put it back on and it started and ran ok at first. After 20 minutes it stalled and was leaking gas from the top of the bowl. I was able to fix the overflowing issue but was running rich at high RPM, smoke from the exhaust, generator shaking, new spark plug quickly covered with carbon deposits, eventually stalling and difficult to restart. This video picks up at this point in the trouble shooting. I ended up using a new carburetor. If anyone has ideas on what the issue was, please shoot me a note.
