Welcome to Caltrain's new Electric Multiple Units (EMU)s: the Stadler KISS, multiple years in the making. These trains were ordered as a part of CalMod (Caltrain's Electrification Project), one of which was tested at the FRA's Train Testing Center (TTC) in Colorado, and delivered to CEMOF on Caltrain Property. The EMUs began testing on Caltrain tracks in 2023, with a full corridor shutdown for train testing on the weekend of June 8-9, 2024. When the full launch happens on September 21, 2024, a new Electrified Service Plan will take effect, which will double the amount of trains on the weekend and provide faster travel times all around the week.
