Cycling - Valley of the Tears - Gran Canaria - THE hardest climb!
Our favorite ride to date: Cran Canaria`s GC210 Valley of the Tears! Firstly, think beautiful hairpin turns perfectly stacked on each other as the climb gains 1007m over the course of 12km. Secondly, the scenery was astounding; Small villages desperately clinging to the cliffside, and deep, winding canyons and vertical canyon walls - the latter somewhat reminiscent of the southwestern US desert. Oh, and as the name suggests; there were (almost) tears. Average gradient is 12%, reaching 25 gruelling % at one point. Excuse the pun, but it was an uphill battle!
