Video displaying an excellent condition, fully working Thinkpad A31p with accessory Floppy and CD-RW/DVD drive. Demonstration of both Ultrabays being swapped around is seen in the video. The A30 and A31 all have the same base features: the 2 fully swappable Ultrabays on either side, the Pentium 4-M CPU with a rather large cooler, and the large chassis offering tremendous I/O for a laptop. But the A31p (p for performance, the high-tier model) in particular had the 15" 1600x1200 UXGA IPS FlexView display, an extremely expensive and rare option. The A31p was one of the first Thinkpads to use this display, which is more well known for its use in the T42p, T43p, and T60p. While the UXGA display lived on in other Thinkpads, the dual-Ultrabays were never again seen on a Thinkpad. It made the A31p a bulky design, but the idea was that its incredible performance and ability to be quickly reconfigured via the Ultrabays (there were not only CD/DVD and Floppy Ultrabays, there were also 2nd HDD and Battery Ultrabay devices) made the A31p flexible in the field, in a way that made it unique from other top end mobile computing solutions at the time.
