100 Obscure PC Games of the 1990s (Part 8: 1997) [TURN ON SUBTITLES]

TURN ON SUBTITLES TO SEE THE GAME TITLES A look at 100 obscure PC games that were released in 1997! Another great year for PC gaming - but a bit of a sad one; so many of these obscure games are pretty good and deserve a higher profile - but the PC game scene was exploding - with new titles being released every day by big companies (compared to earlier in the decade when a bulk of the produced games were shareware/homebrew games). 3D was starting to cement itself as a must-have; FPSs were still popular, but the point and click multimedia adventures were losing favor. In place, the Real Time Strategy (RTS) was really taking off, next to the advent of 3D games! Additionally, Windows 95 was now the defacto platform for most big releases, with pure DOS games falling in number. Korean game developers were, as always, producing some very solid games - and Psygnosis was a heavy weight publisher - releasing all sorts of games (many of which were also released on the PS1). Keep an eye out for entries by Epic MegaGames (who is best know today for Fortnite, and producing the Unreal engine), Criterion - and the first game from a small studio called Larian. Also keep a lookout for what is possibly the weirdest choice for a licensed game ever ("Forbes Corporate Warrior") COMPLETE GAMELIST: 3DO Games Decathlon (Studio 3DO) 7th Legion (Epic Megagmes) ACM 1918: Aerial Combat Maneuvres (Aqua Pacific Ltd) Agent Armstrong (King of the Jungle) Alien Cabal (QA Soft) Alpha Storm (TAG) Amulets & Armor (Exigus Entertainment) Armed & Delirious/Dementia (Makh-Shevet Ltd) Battle Wrath (Cerebral Gaming Systems) Beasts and Bumpkins (Worldweaver Productions) Bedlam 2: Absolute Bedlam (Mirage Technologies) Black Magic (WiZ) Blood Bath At Red Falls (UnderWorld Software) Bruce Colville's My Teacher Is An Alien (Hypnotix, Inc) BUNGMYEONG (FEW) Campus Heroes (Mips Soft) Chaos Island: The Lost World - Jurassic Park (Dreamworks) Chemical Warfare (Drew Costigan) City of Lost Children, The (Psygnosis) Conquest Earth (Data Design Interactive - 1997) Corum Jeoju Badeun Ttang (Hicom Entertainment) Counter Blow (CenoZoic) Dark Angael (Vicarious Visions) Dark Colony (Take Two Interactive Canada) Dark Rift (Kronos Digital) Dead Reckoning (Goldtree Enterprises) Death Drome (Zipper Interactive) Defiance (Logicware) Dreams to Reality (Cryo) Duckman: The Graphic Adventures of a Private Dick (The Illusions Gaming Company) Dune Runners (Funsoft) Ecstatica II (Andrew Spencer Studios) Electronic Popple (Byteshock) Entombed Enhanced (Blue Water Entertainment) Eojjeonji Joheun Il-i Saenggil Geot Gateun Jeonyeok (TG Entertinment) Extreme Tactics (Media Station) Flesh Feast (Ingames Interactive) Forbes Corporate Warrior (Brooklyn Multimedia) Forced Alliance: The Glarious Mandate (Orbital Studios) G-Nome (7th Level) Galapagos: Mendel's Escape (Anark) Gooch Grundy's X-Decathlon (Motion Pixels) Have a N.I.C.E Day / Axelerator (Synetic) Helicops (Paragon Visual Systems) Hollywood Monsters (Pendulo Studios) Icarus: Sanctuary of the Gods (KRGSoft) Jan Pienkowski Haunted House (Media Station) Klondike Moon/Luna Ticks (TeamForm Software) Kosmopolska (TATI Mixedia) Last Knight, The (Island Dream) LED Wars, The (Larian) Legend of the Ancient Dragon (Mirinae Software) Lomax (Psygnosis) Lurid Land (Illusion Softworks) Machine Hunter (Eurocom) Madspace: To Hell And Beyond (Maddox Games) Mageslayer (Raven) Mars3D (Engine Technology CO.LTD Meat Puppet (Kronos Digital) Montezuma's Return (Utopia Technologies) Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life (7th Level) Moon Child (Team Hoi) Mortalus: The Quest for Immortality (Hoffman and Associates) Mutarium (ZIMA) Necrodome (Raven Software) Necrons, The (Mirinae Software) Neophyte : The Journey Begins (Alien Software) Nightmare Ned (Creative Capers Entertainment/Window Painters No Respect (Appeal SA) Overboard!
