Learn about the Ohm's law equation, why it's useful for circuit analysis and design, and why it doesn't always work. In this video, we verify Ohm's law with a simple circuit and an oscilloscope, then look at a practical example of what Ohm's law is used for in the real world by lighting (and destroying) an LED with too much current. Voltage, current, and resistance (/impedance) are all tied together by "Ohm's Law," an empirical law that's useful for basic circuits. In the real world, though, Ohm's Law doesn't always work - like when a Jacob's ladder's leads have too big of a gap and won't arc. There's still a voltage and a resistance present, but current is zero. Or, the terminals of a battery.
