The Victorian Railways T Class was first ordered in 1955 as a diesel replacement for branchline steam locomotives. There was a total of 7 orders for the class between 9155 and 1968. With the 7 orders there is three sub classes with notable shape differences when looking from the outside - The first series flat top t class, the second series h nose t class with the raised cab and the third series high cab with a low profile front. All three classes survive today with a number in preservation and a number still in active service hauling mainline freight and infrastructure trains.
