EDOPro | Centurion Deck & Showcase ft. Horus cards | Post Valiant Smashers (VASM) [TCG]

Is this a Gurren Lagann reference? Centurion from Valiant Smashers have immediately drawn attention as a potential upcoming meta dominant strategy. The archetype revolves around 2 girls and their mecha suit bouncing in and out of the Spell/Trap zones to facilitate Level 8 or 12 Synchro Summons. The girls (Primera & Trudea) all have the effect where they are treated as Continuous Traps while in the Spell/Trap zones which then allows them to jump onto the field as Quick Effects/at Spell Speed 2 (Since they are Traps and not Spells). This coupled with their Field Spell (which also places any of the Centurion monsters at the cost of a card in hand) allows them to perform Synchro Summons on the opponent's turn. Since the deck focuses on (mainly) Synchro 12s, the Horus cards from AGOV are a perfect fit for the deck as they are free Lv8 bodies that helps to mitigate potential spot removal. The Horus cards also help to enable Rank 8 utility monsters to help diversify its Extra Deck options. Such as Photon Lord to give some handtrap protection before going for the Centurion combo or Dingirsu or Lancelot for going 2nd and climb into Zeus. The deck immediately screams midrange deck, able to fit a bunch of 1-card starters and non-engine and plays low to the ground and plans to grind out the opponent. However, there is just one teeny tiny problem, one that is definitely healthy for the game and will not be abused by other decks, and that is Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity. Since the deck makes Lv12 Synchros with ease and Crimson Dragon being way too generic, the deck's entire identity has devolved into King Calamity turbo. Coupled with the fact the deck can play 16-19 one card starters and still has the space for a bunch of non-engine like handtraps and board breakers, has a ton of grind game since Legatia will always recycle Primera or Trudea, and the main combo involving Emet VI placing Trudea back into the Spell/Trap zone for follow up, the deck is infuriating to play against and also quite stale. Since King Calamity turbo is the deck's whole game plan, it struggles against backrow heavy decks by a lot, relying heavily on the side deck to deal with those matchups and with no in-engine card to deal with backrow. This deck has a lot of potential and insanely strong right out the gate, but until it gets further support to diversify its playstyle or if King Calamity bites the dust, the archetype is very linear, predictable and quite stale. (Literally got bored after playing 5 matches with the deck lmao) For those who want to know the choke points: 1. Negate Trudea's on-field effect (Imperm/Veiler/Ghost Mourner). 2. Negating/stopping Emet VI's summon from grave helps to slow down the deck's grind game (Ghost Belle/D.D. Crow/Called By the Grave). 3. Find ways to make King Calamity miss timing. i.e. force out Crimson Dragon's summon effect, making it resolve as Chain Link 2 or higher (Imperm, Book of Moon/Eclipse, etc.) Just watch out for the Counter Trap if they managed to search it in their combo.
