70000 Britannia hauls the last 'Garden of England' & 'Sunset Steam Express' of the season - 20.08.24

Taking charge of the final ‘Garden of England Lunchtime Tour’ and ‘Sunset Steam Express’ for Steam Dreams, 70000 Britannia would make a final fling through Kent and Surrey for the 2024 Summer Season. Starting out with the Garden of England circular, we begin at Longfield station as the Brit eases back being hot on the tail of a service train. Heading further east, we next see Britannia climbing the 1 in 100 gradient at Selling, heading towards the Canterbury water stop. The next shot sees us at the incredibly overgrown road bridge on Old Dover Road, as the train heads away from Canterbury towards Dover. Moving onto Folkestone, Britannia puts on a good show of speed as it heads towards Ashford. The final shot of the Kent circuit sees the train nearing the summit of Hildenborough bank, passing under Morleys Road just prior to Sevenoaks tunnel. A few hours later, it was a final trip round the Surrey hills for the Sunset Steam Express, beginning at Egham as the train gets away from a signal check from the level crossing. Overtaking the train while it stopped at Chertsey for water, the train is seeing getting away from said stop at Addlestone as it heads for the SWML. Finally, with all the light gone and the locals having come out to see the spectacle, Britannia is captured powering through Merstham on it’s final sprint back to the capital, bringing down the curtain to another successful summer season. •Facebook:   / themodsterrailwayvideos
