Vintage Blow Torch Restoration / Repair - Max Sievert Vapouria No.4

In this video we'll take a non functional vintage blow torch (also referred to as a blow lamp) and restore it back to a working condition. This is more of an "oily rag" restoration rather than a "make it all shiny and put it on a shelf" restoration - the lamp will feature in future videos and introducing a highly polished bit of brass wouldn't really suit my format!!! The blow torch is a Max Sievert No.4 Vapouria, made in Stockholm, Sweden. As with other paraffin blow torches, the burner has to be pre heated before starting, in this case, using methylated spirits that goes in a little tray beneath the burner. Once the burner is hot enough, the tank is pressurised and the regulator turned on. The pressurised fuel in the tank is fed through the vaporising tubes in the burner and up to the jet, where it exits, back through the burner and out of the nozzle.
