Implementation of IS800:2007 code in STAAD - Part 1: Stability Analysis & Tension Member Design

IS800:2007 is the Indian standard code of practice for design of steel members using limit state method. It is a large code and the most problematic area of this code is several sections and design clauses are not properly clarified. In this session, I have discussed on the basic design considerations and pre-requisites of design using IS800 code in STAAD. I have also discussed about the stability analysis and how to finalize the analysis method from the outcome of stability analysis. Along with that, geometric checks including slenderness and web depth criteria check, section classification and design of axial members subjected to tension force is also covered.
